My sister LiLi will be a new featured weekly writer. Look out for some awesome reviews of movies, opinion pieces on books, and theories on all things zombie. This post will include a short story from her own blog, Villan of the Story, so you can get a feel for her writing style.
Welcome, LiLi!
ENTERTAINMENT VALUE
“Ladies and gentlemen! Boys and girls! Gather around to see the
wonder, the horror, the freakish family fun that is the Cutthroat Freak
Show! Step right in, step right in! Tickets are only 3 dollars, 1 dollar
for children; though I must warn you, mothers and fathers, what your
children see in here will haunt their dreams 'til the day they die!
Don’t be shy! Come on in, look inside! Everyone loves a good scare now
and then; bring the whole family!
Right this way; you’ve never seen freaks like these! Deformities of science! Deformities by God! The Heavens wouldn’t even embrace these sick creatures! Come this way, yes over here! What’s wrong with these people; not even fit to call people! I’ve seen some pretty disturbing things in my day, but this just takes the cake! Give your money to the vendor by my side, and venture into the Freak Show tent! Hold on for dear life, and don’t look for too long, you may end up like one of these poor souls!”
A woman leaves the tent with her three children clinging onto her dress for dear life. She promptly vomits on their shoes.
“Don’t be shy, don’t be shy! They’re chained for a reason! There’s nothing to fear! They may be disgusting to look at, but no harm will come your way!”
An unconscious man is dragged to the infirmary by sad clowns.
“Step right in!”
A group of ne’er-do-well teenagers flee the tent, swearing their souls to God.
“Just take a peek!”
Inside the flap a small group of humans, chained by their necks huddle away from alien like creatures. Their faces twisted or sideways. gaping mouths revealing hundreds of sharp, tiny teeth. Skin, that looked inside out, strings of red, red muscle showing. Their eyes just slits of a sickly green. Their hands small claws with tentacles for arms.
“Chance of a life-time folks! Tomorrow we’re culling these disgusting things.”
